Fasten Your Seatbelts and Prepare for an Amazing Journey With #WCEU 🚀

WordCamp Europe is getting closer, and we are now less than 100 days away (93 days to be exact!) from the event. There are still a few tickets left (68 to be exact!) from our second batch – so grab at least one if you haven’t already. And if you want an overview of what’s been happening in the past weeks – read on.

Travelling With Kids? Sign up for Childcare!

As we did at WordCamp Europe 2016 (in Vienna) and 2017 (in Paris), we intend to provide childcare during the the conference’s two days in Belgrade (Fri 15 and Sat 16 June 2018). We’re partnering with Preschool Čukarica to make WCEU as accessible as possible to parents. Their professional staff will entertain your kids in an amazing playground in the same building as WordCamp Europe.

The childcare service is free for all our attendees but is limited to 25 children. If you want to leave your child at our childcare service, you need to sign them up using our childcare registration form (and you need to get your WordCamp Europe ticket before signing up – in case you haven’t got one already).

We Started Announcing Speakers!

Yes. We started announcing this year’s fantastic speaker lineup sooner than we planned, starting with the first two groups of speakers. The first group will be talking about the open source and the web, and talks in the second group are focused on design. Both topics are “hot” and important, and we can assure you that there are many more amazing speakers yet to be announced.

This year we are bringing you some exciting workshops too! Workshops will be free but a separate registration will be required due to limited space, and you’ll need to purchase a ticket before registering.

Discover Belgrade and Serbia

Are you going to be enjoying a few days off in Belgrade? Our editorial series about Belgrade and Serbia includes valuable information about what to do, see, and eat. If you’re travelling with your family, make sure to read How to Spend Good Family Time in Belgrade.

We also wrote an extensive piece about Serbian traditions that were influenced by both religion and historical turbulence in the region. Although today some of these traditions have profoundly changed, they are a reminder of the past.

If you are, like us, into local cuisine then there are some dishes and drinks you’ll want to try while in Serbia. If you have a week in Belgrade and don’t know what to do, we listed some ideas on that too.

There’s Still Time to Sponsor, Volunteer, Help as a Photographer, or Host…

Our call for sponsors is still open and we have limited sponsor spaces left. If you’re thinking about sponsoring WordCamp Europe, now would be a good time to act.

Last week we contacted the first group of selected volunteers, but we’ll need more people to care for all our attendees. If you’d like to help us by making everyone else feel welcome then apply to be a WordCamp Europe volunteer today (and you can even choose your preferred volunteer role). Deadline for volunteer applications is March 31st.

If you love documentary-style photography or event coverage, apply to become part of the photography team. By being part of the photography team at WCEU, you’ll gain valuable experience and meet a lot of interesting people along the way, working with a group of like-minded individuals. As with volunteers, you can apply to become a photographer or videographer until March 31st.

And last but not least – if you and your team organised a successful WordCamp in your (European) city in 2016 or 2017, then you can apply to host WordCamp Europe in 2019. There’s time until March 31st at 23:59 CET but if you haven’t thought about that before – you need to hurry!

All the (Practical) Info

We summarized all the practical info you’ll need, from our Code of Conduct to information about how to get to Belgrade, what to do, where to stay and work. If there is one page that you need to bookmarkPractical Info” is the one!
