Below, you’ll find an introduction to the different teams we have working behind the scenes at WordCamp Europe.
Attendee Services Team
This is the go-to team before and throughout the event, ensuring that attendees have all the information and support they need. From handling ticket logistics and visa applications to accessibility support and on-the-ground guidance, they make sure no one is left without an answer. Join this team and be the person attendees rely on when it matters most.
This team would be a perfect fit if you have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and enjoy helping people navigate complex logistics. Strong organisational skills to manage ticket processes effectively are also a plus.
Budget Team
Meet the team keeping WCEU financially on track. With their expertise, they make sure every Euro is put to good use and contributes to a well-run, memorable event for everyone involved. Join this team and be part of the behind-the-scenes work that makes WCEU possible.
This team would be a perfect fit if you have financial expertise and experience in budget management. Attention to detail and strong analytical skills are highly valued.
Communications, Marketing & PR Team
The Communications, Marketing & PR Team keeps attendees informed and excited about WCEU. They work closely with all other organising teams to ensure consistent communication across every channel.
As a member of this team, native or near-native English fluency is a valuable asset. Your role will involve proofreading and sharpening content written by non-native English speakers, ensuring everything is polished and clearly conveys the intended message.
Community Team
The Community Team is at the heart of WCEU. They raise awareness about contributing to the WordPress project, organise community-driven programming including the Community Booth and Contributor Day, and bring energy to the event. Join this team and help make WCEU a place where people genuinely connect.
This team would be a perfect fit if you have a passion for community building and engagement. Excellent communication and leadership skills are valued, along with familiarity with WordPress and its community contribution processes.
Design Team
The Design Team gives WCEU its visual character. They support other teams by producing the visuals that run throughout the event: logos, banners, and event materials. Join this team and help bring a cohesive look and feel to every corner of WCEU.
This team would be a perfect fit if you have proficiency in graphic design tools. Experience with Canva is a plus, as the team uses it for collaborative design work. A creative eye and a willingness to work closely with other teams are key.
IT Team
The IT Team keeps the digital infrastructure running throughout WCEU. They provide technical support to all teams, power the internal team websites that host shared tooling including surveys, registrations, and standalone services like eSignature; and are responsible above all for a stable, reliable internet connection across the venue, including the expo and sponsor hall, during both Contributor Day and the main event. Join this team and be the person who keeps everyone connected when it counts.
This team would be a perfect fit if you have technical proficiency and solid problem-solving skills. Experience in networking and IT troubleshooting are highly desirable.
Local Team
This team is the bridge between WCEU and its host city. They handle logistics, source local suppliers and venues, and gather the on-the-ground knowledge that makes the event feel genuinely rooted in its location. Thanks to their work, attendees can immerse themselves in the local culture and feel at home in Málaga.
This team would be a perfect fit if you have strong knowledge of the local area and its resources. Organisational skills and a knack for logistics are essential.
Photography Team
The Photography Team documents the WCEU experience. They capture the WordPress community coming together to learn, connect, and collaborate. Their work preserves the memories of the event long after it ends. Join this team and tell the story of WCEU through your lens.
This team would be a perfect fit if you have proficiency in photography and/or videography, an eye for capturing authentic moments, and the ability to work independently in a busy environment. Please note that bringing your own equipment is a requirement for this role.
Speakers & Programme Team
The Speakers & Programme Team curates the line-up of talks that leave attendees informed and inspired. They identify the best speakers and topics, ensuring a diverse, inclusive, and enriching programme. Join this team and help shape what attendees take home from WCEU.
This team would be a perfect fit if you have a strong knowledge of WordPress and its ecosystem. If you enjoy research, have excellent organisational skills, and can curate engaging content for a broad audience, this team is for you.
Sponsor Team
The Sponsor Team is central to WCEU’s ability to run at scale. They work closely with sponsors throughout the entire process, from initial outreach to on-site support, and are responsible for the sponsor handbook, booth logistics, lead generation tooling, and making sure every sponsor benefit is delivered as promised. Join this team and be the connection point between sponsors and the WordPress community.
This team would be a perfect fit if you have strong interpersonal and organisational skills. Experience managing external relationships, coordinating logistics, and following through on commitments is what makes this team work.
Volunteers Team
WordCamps run on the energy of passionate volunteers, and the Volunteer Team makes that possible. They recruit, train, organise, and support over 250 individuals across three event days; they are the operational backbone that keeps everything moving. Join this team for one of the most demanding and rewarding roles in the entire organising structure.
This team would be a perfect fit if you have strong organisational and people management skills. Experience recruiting and coordinating large groups, along with the ability to stay calm under pressure, will serve you well here.
Website Team
The Website Team creates the online experience for WCEU attendees. This team works closely with the Design Team and the Communications Team to bring the event’s vision to life on the web, covering everything from landing pages to navigation to functionality. Note that the WCEU website runs on the WordCamp multisite setup, so plugin use and custom coding are limited.
