Call for Media Partners & Community Creators: WordCamp Europe 2027

WordCamp Europe 2027 is now inviting applications from Media Partners and independent Community Creators. Applications close at 23:59 CET on 31 January 2027.

Since our journey began in 2013, WordCamp Europe has benefited from the vital support of Media Partners who help share the event’s purpose and connect with diverse audiences worldwide. Over the years, partners such as Post Status, Torque, WP Tavern and Ayuda WordPress have given each edition its own energy and visibility, ensuring that stories from the WordPress community resonate across the globe.

As we look ahead to WordCamp Europe 2027 in Málaga, Spain (27–29 May 2027), we are preparing to welcome a new cohort of partners. With 2,500 to 3,000 attendees expected at FYCMA (Palacio de Ferias y Congresos de Málaga), this edition places a strong focus on educational programmes, deeper community engagement and stronger ties across regional ecosystems.

To reflect that mission, we are seeking a diverse mix of voices:

  • Platforms with a global reach
  • Outlets rooted in regional and local communities, especially across Spain and Southern Europe
  • Independent creators who amplify emerging or under-represented groups across the open-source web

Whether you lead an established newsroom or run a channel with a few hundred loyal followers, if you are looking for a partnership built on shared reach, purpose and genuine community connection, we invite you to apply.

Two ways to take part

We welcome tech-focused media worldwide, from websites, blogs, magazines and broadcast outlets to podcasts, video channels, newsletters and social creators. You can apply through one of two tracks:

Community Creators & Micro-Influencer Track

You don’t need a massive newsroom to tell a great story

Are you an independent YouTuber, podcaster, newsletter author, tech streamer or social media creator? Do you run a niche blog, or share WordPress tutorials on TikTok, Instagram, X or Bluesky? We want to hear from you.

Many independent creators hesitate to apply, assuming that only legacy tech publications and high-traffic newsrooms are selected. At WordCamp Europe, we believe some of the most genuine, relatable and insightful coverage comes from grassroots community members with dedicated, highly engaged audiences. Whether your community counts 300 passionate developers or 5,000 digital design enthusiasts, what matters to us is your unique angle, authenticity and passion for the open-source web.

What you receive

The Creator Track gives you the support and access you need to produce compelling content, without commercial overheads:

  • One (1) complimentary media pass granting full access to sessions, tracks and Contributor Day.
  • Access to the Media Area: a dedicated, quiet workspace with reliable high-speed connectivity for editing, uploading or recording interviews.
  • Audience amplification: we regularly reshare and showcase community reels, threads and videos across official WCEU channels.
  • An invitation to the Speakers & Organisers social event: a valuable opportunity to network directly with industry veterans and fellow creators.

What we ask of you

We know creative workflows differ from traditional journalism. Rather than rigid article quotas, we look for energetic, realistic commitments that suit your platform:

  1. Pre-event announcement: share your excitement with your audience before the event, through a dedicated post, newsletter mention, short-form video or podcast shout-out previewing WCEU 2027 in Málaga.
  2. On-site storytelling: share real-time highlights during the conference in whatever format suits your medium, for example:
  • Short-form video updates (Reels, TikToks, YouTube Shorts)
  • Daily social threads or photo highlights capturing the atmosphere at the venue
  • Mini-interviews or live reactions from talks and hallway chats
  1. Post-event wrap-up: a reflective post, recap video or podcast episode highlighting your key takeaways and favourite moments.
  2. Hashtags: tag your posts with #WCEU and #WCEU2027.

Don’t count yourself out because of your follower count. If you create thoughtful, fun or informative content about WordPress, web development, design or open source, you belong in Málaga.

Content guidelines and creative ideas

Whichever track you choose, we encourage a varied, multi-format approach tailored to your audience:

  • Multimedia formats: high-definition video summaries, live podcast recordings, behind-the-scenes walkthroughs or transcribed Q&A interviews.
  • Community spotlights: features on first-time attendees, volunteer contributions or open-source community initiatives.
  • Digital integration: the official WCEU 2027 banner or badge on your website sidebar, event calendar or email newsletter footer.

Please tag all coverage with #WCEU and #WCEU2027.
