Wellness track activities

The Wellness Track is designed to help WordPress community members by providing introductory (beginner level) sessions of yoga and tai chi on both days of the conference. For the adventurers at Camp we will be leading a short hike to Lycabettus both days.

Because of the work we do, many of us in the WordPress community tend to be sedentary. Working all day in front of a computer we are more prone to suffer from stress and other related symptoms. A number of studies have shown that yoga may help reduce the amount of stress and anxiety some of us experience.

Tai chi is a series of gentle physical exercises and stretches. Short for Tai chi ch’üan, and sometimes called “shadowboxing”, it is an internal Chinese martial art practiced for defense training, health benefits and meditation.

The purpose of the Wellness Track is to encourage and help the WordPress Community to be more active and stress less.

How to attend

Everyone is welcome to join but there is limited capacity for each session. Please be sure to arrive early for the activities to ensure a place.

There will be three different activities each day, a Yoga class, a Tai Chi class and a group hike, please check the schedule below for times.

Instructors for each activity will guide and help you. We will be providing 20 yoga mats for participants, but if you are late and you don’t find a free mat you can always use the natural mat and sit on the ground 😎.

Advice

  • We want to keep the environment clean, so we ask you to please leave the area clean at the end of the session.
  • Make sure you bring a bottle of water with you. Especially for outdoor activities, you might get dehydrated with the warm Athens weather.
