Thank you from WordCamp Europe 2023!

As we begin the final preparations this week to close down our 2023 event, we’d like to take a few moments to recognise the amazing community which came together in early June in Athens.

This week we’ll be reflecting on our event, and releasing new information about our next edition of WordCamp Europe, taking place in Torino, Italy!

Speakers

Our event is made extra special with the insight and experiences provided by our amazing speakers. 102 speakers were on stage at WordCamp Europe 2023 covering a range of topics from marketing and design – to back-end coding and plugin development.

The talks will be available on WordPress.tv shortly, so if you missed out on any of these presentations you can catch up from the comfort of your home!

Sponsors

Hosting a large event with over 2,500 attendees is always going to attract a cost – from the venue and catering, down to the technical support and events taking place. Our sponsors enable us to provide an amazing experience to everyone who attends, and keeps our ticket costs as low as possible.

We’d like to thank our sponsors for helping make WordCamp Europe 2023 an amazing success.

Organising Team

We’d like to thank our amazing Organising Team who have spent over 9 months preparing, organising and running the event at the Megaron. Over 110 team members came together across a range of different teams, and from no less than 21 countries.

Split across 11 amazing teams, our organisers were responsible for a range of activities – from taking care of ticketing, managing the budget and even down to the content of the event and ensuring our sponsors were looked after.

Providing additional support, we also had the experience of three Global Leads who provided key insight and assistance throughout the year.

We’re currently finalising images from the event (there were over 33,000 taken!) and will be publishing a wide selection to our Flickr account shortly.

Volunteers

The success of WordCamps across the globe hinges on the dedication of volunteers who generously contribute their time and efforts to ensure the seamless execution of the event. This year, we were fortunate to have 142 enthusiastic individuals stepping up to take on this crucial role.

Our volunteers are the true representatives of WordCamp, leaving a lasting impression on attendees throughout the entire event. From performing essential tasks to making WCEU 2023 a resounding success, they played a pivotal part.

You may have personally interacted with our friendly volunteers at the registration desk, or witnessed the emcees and workshop assistants diligently keeping the event on track.

Behind the scenes, there were countless other volunteers working tirelessly to provide support to our sponsors, curate engaging content for social media, assist with meal services, and handle various other responsibilities that kept the event running seamlessly.

Despite their varying degrees of visibility, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude to all our volunteers. Their commitment and dedication are the driving force behind the WordCamp experience, and we couldn’t have achieved this without them. THANK YOU, volunteers!

Our Call for Organisers is still open…

To create the best event we possibly can, we rely on a team of organisers from our community. If you enjoyed WordCamp Europe 2023 and want to get involved – or if you think you can help us make it even better – we encourage you to apply to join the WordCamp Europe 2024 Organising Team.
