WordCamp Contributor Days give you a special opportunity to share a room with other people who come from various different backgrounds with one thing in common: WordPress.
WordPress now powers more than 30% of the web and some of the greatest developers put their passion into the biggest CMS in the world. And you might just meet some of them at Contributor Day.
We we would love to see you at WordCamp Europe’s Contributor Day which will take place on the 14th of June in Belgrade. If this will be your first Contributor Day, there will be plenty of people available to provide advice, support and help you get started.
First time contributor?
So, you have never been to a Contributor Day and are asking yourself whether or not to sign up? Let us give you some reasons to sign up.
Contributor Day is about having a good time and meeting people from the community who you’d probably never meet otherwise. The WordPress community is passionate about their CMS, which means they love to talk about it. If you don’t know anyone then don’t worry, the WordPress community is one big family and chances are you are going to come as a contributor and leave as a friend.
There are several different ways to contribute and different teams you can join in order to help and learn. If you have never been to a Contributor Day, then you don’t need a grand plan in order to help. The WordPress community needs people with lots of different skills.
You can start off by translating WordPress into your own language, helping out with support tickets, helping out the documentation team, or helping out the WordPress.tv team (to name a few).
Have a look at the different teams and go with the one you feel most comfortable with. Don’t forget, every expert started out as a beginner.
After the introduction, the organisers will help to place you in the team that suits you best. Every team will have a team lead, who will be there to answer your questions and help you with anything you need. There will be drinks, snacks and lunch to keep you refreshed during the day.
Besides contributing to the community, this is a chance for you to learn something new, discuss issues that you’ve experienced and get answers to problems you’re dealing with. Use this day to reward yourself with knowledge and by expanding your network. Attendance is free, but you need to have a valid WordCamp ticket to be able to enter. However a separate signup is needed because the number of spaces available for Contributor Day is limited.
Important difference in this year’s registration is that you must have registered account on WordPress.org prior to registering for WCEU Contributor Day. You can register now via this form.

What do I need?
Please note that WordPress.org account is required in order to register for WordCamp Europe Contributor Day.
Don’t forget your laptop and charger – you’ll need them throughout the process. Currently, the main communication medium for contributors is Slack, so download a desktop version or use the web version with your WordPress.org credentials. If you don’t have a WordPress Slack account you can register at https://make.wordpress.org/chat (we recommend doing so in advance so you can have the most out of the Contributor Day).
If you have any issues or difficulties with setting up Slack account don’t worry – organisers will help you on the day. There are many different ways to get involved with WordPress, so make sure you visit https://make.wordpress.org and familiarise yourself with the different contributor teams that are available. Each team has own Handbook where you can get a better idea of all the ways in which you can contribute.
