Night Outs While You Are in Belgrade for #WCEU

Discover Belgrade - Where to go for a night out while you are in Belgrade for #WCEU

So, you have been at the conference all day, maybe did some sight seeing, eaten well, and you are wondering, “what’s next?” Well, dear visitor, a little party can do no harm. 🙂

During the summer season, Belgrade nightlife migrates to the river banks and, I must say, it is not an easy job to recommend where to go. We have a large number of clubs and most of them change their names on a yearly basis. But hey, I’ll give it my best shot!

I’ll skip clubs in the upper parts of town because it makes no sense to be inside during the summer. I will also not include addresses because it’s enough to tell a taxi driver the name of a club. They will know where to go, trust me on this one. And, basically, they are all next to each other. Well, most of them.

Dragstor Play

One of the most popular places during summer. It is basically a raft (as all clubs on the river in Belgrade are) and parties there during weekends are amazing. Music wise, you could hear pop, house, RnB, foreign DJs, and domestic ones too. Usually, it is very crowded. Also a pretty cool place to visit during the daytime, to chill out. A little disclaimer: they had only a few parties last summer and focused more on daytime chill.

Freestyler

Oh, this one. Also one of the most popular, if not the most popular. Freestyle is similar to Dragstor Play music-wise. It is one of those clubs where people go just to be seen and there are often long lines. But, if you speak any language other than Serbian, you should not have a problem. It is one of the oldest clubs in Belgrade, and it has remained popular and hyped (though I would say overhyped). They revamp it every year and that could be the reason behind its popularity. It’s always overcrowded but everybody has a good time there.

Hot Mess

Hot Mess is right next to Dragstor Play and, let me tell you right from the start, it has a pool. In the middle. On the river. Imagine that! It’s a pretty chill place during the daytime but it gets pretty wild during the night. And it’s not just a phrase, it gets pretty wild! Music varies from house to RnB, depending on the night.

River

If you would like to listen to Serbian music on the river, well, go visit River. The club is pretty standard, nothing special about it (no pool in the middle). People like to go there and go wild while listening to domestic music, dancing all night. Music is always played by a band and famous Serbian singers often sing there. Believe me when I say, the bands make for a really awesome atmosphere. Fun is guaranteed, though you will not understand words.

Lasta

Next one in line is Lasta. It is a little further away but it is well worth the visit if you don’t like commercial house/pop stuff. A lot of foreign DJs come to play at Lasta and, because of that, the place is often crammed. A reservation is needed most of the time but, hey, try your luck, they might let you in without one. Personally, I’ve been there a couple of times and always had a good time. What differentiates this place from the others is that parties usually start early, around 6-7PM. Yeah, I know, weird. Oh and, the staff dress as sailors, imagine that. 🙂 Aaanndd the DJ booth is where the crowd is.

Shake N Shake

Last but not least, Shake n Shake. This place is worth visiting during the day. People go there to grab a drink and relax alongside the river during hot days. They have nets that are just above the water with big pillows. You gotta try it! And then, the night comes and the party starts. Music wise, it is same as the ones above, but usually, its flavour is house music. It’s all about house music (song reference, get it?).

I will stop right there because there are many more and this article could go on for dozens of clubs. You will not go wrong, wherever you go. They are all pretty amazing places with great parties. If you’re worred about the dress code, don’t! Dress up as you would in any other club. Just don’t go as you go to take a walk in a park (#justsayin).

There are two more areas in the city that are perfect for summer nights out: 1. The river bank in front of Hotel Jugoslavija “Popular in Serbia like Juga”.  2. Ada Ciganlija, with clubs and restaurants all around the lake as mentioned in one of our previous articles.

Prices. They vary. Entrance is usually free and drinks vary from place to place, but usually beer is 3-5 Euros. Cocktails generally range from 5-10 Euros. Bottles are from 80-90 (for vodka) and go up to a couple of hundreds (for whiskeys and champagnes).

Last thing: The above mentioned clubs change from summer to summer. The same generally stands for all clubs in Belgrade, so take everything with a grain of salt.

If you need help with booking, give the local team a shout.
