Ain’t No Party Like A #WCEU After Party

We’re over the moon to announce more details around this year’s after party.

For those who haven’t attended before, WordCamp Europe after parties are simply out of this world. They’re a chance for us to celebrate, mingle amongst the stars of the conference, and network in a casual, fun atmosphere.

This year’s after party will launch on June 16th, the final day of the conference. You’ll need to make your way to Belexpo Centar, the contributor day venue, for lift off. 🚀 ⭐

And, yes, we are providing clues about the after party’s theme in the form of terrible puns. 🙂 In 2016, we invited you to a Venetian Ball and, the following year, to a 1930s-style shindig in Paris. We’re trying something a little different this year in the form of a retro-futuristic party.

The After Party Theme

Retro-futurism is a look at how the people of the past imagined the future, both on Earth and in space. Think of all your favourite, cheesiest parts from Back to the Future with a twist of 2001: A Space Odyssey thrown together with the most iconic moments from Star Wars.

Need some inspiration for your costume? The WCEU team came up with the following ideas to pique your imagination:

• Alien antennas.
• Leggings with space motives.
• Princess General Leia buns.
• Space-y silver clothing and shoes.
• Futuristic jumpsuits.
• 3D sunglasses.
• Glowsticks.
• Space helmets.

Don’t let our list of ideas limit you, though! We’re looking forward to seeing how you embrace this year’s after party theme.

As with previous years, please feel welcome to show up in a WordPress hoody if that’s the outfit you’ll be most comfortable in. The theme is optional, for those who will find it fun.

• When: June 16th, from 19h – 2h.
• Where: Belexpo Centar, Španskih boraca 74, Belgrade. This is the Contributor Day venue and two kilometres from the main conference venue.
• Food? Drinks? We wanted to announce the theme as soon as possible but are still finalising information around food and drinks at the after party. Make sure you’re subscribed to this site so that you’re notified when we release more information.
