

Matt Mullenweg is the co-founder of the open-source publishing platform WordPress, which powers 43% of all sites on the web. He is the founder and CEO of Automattic, the parent company of leading web platforms such as WordPress.com, WooCommerce, Tumblr, WordPress VIP, Day One, Beeper, and Pocket Casts. To pay forward the support he got as a young entrepreneur, Matt has made 100+ angel investments through Audrey Capital, including GitLab, Ring, Sonos, SpaceX, Calm, Wealthfront, AngelList, Blue Bottle Coffee, and many more.
Matt currently serves on the boards of Automattic and Field Effect, a cybersecurity startup. He also sits on the boards of two nonprofits: EcoAmerica, an environmental advocacy organization, and Illuminate, the team behind the Bay Lights public art installation. Previously, he served on the boards of GitLab, the New Museum, and Grist.
Combining his lifelong passion for jazz with community building, Matt is also a co-owner of Keys Jazz Bistro in San Francisco, a premier music venue dedicated to supporting jazz artists and culture in the city.
Originally from Houston, Texas, Matt attended the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts and studied jazz saxophone. He is an avid photographer who has adventured on all 7 continents and spends his time between Houston, San Francisco, and Jackson Hole. He is a Henry Crown Fellow at the Aspen Institute.
