Powering 43% of the web is made possible by people who have decided to contribute their time, skills, and passion to maintain and improve the open-source WordPress project. On June 4th, 2026, in Kraków, Poland, you have a chance to be part of that legacy at WordCamp Europe’s Contributor Day.
Whether you’re a seasoned developer, a designer, a polyglot or someone who just loves WordPress and the community around it and wants to give back, this day is your chance to do so. Registration is now open, so hurry up and take part in the contributor day for WordCamp Europe 2026.
There is a separate registration for Contributor Day after you purchase your WCEU ticket. Don’t have one yet? Get your ticket HERE.
What exactly is contributor day?
Think of Contributor Day as a full-day sprint where the WordPress community comes together to move the project forward rather than a workshop where you sit and listen. On June 4th, 2026, you’ll get to work together with like-minded people in a collaborative, high-energy event on contributions that actually help shape the future of the WordPress project.
The best part? You don’t need to be a code expert! For there is a place for almost every specialisation, and first-timers are encouraged to participate and are as welcome as those who’ve contributed a hundred times before. Contributor day is structured to include and support everyone: from complete beginners to seasoned developers.
How can I contribute?
Contributing to an open-source project like WordPress means getting involved in its growth, improvement, and sustainability. It’s about working together to improve WordPress, and the good news is that you don’t need to be a developer to contribute.
Technical Contributions
If you enjoy working with code, design, or testing, you can:
- Test and report bugs in WordPress core, themes, or plugins
- Write and submit patches for bug fixes or new features
- Design or develop themes and plugins to share on WordPress.org
- Contribute to the WordPress mobile apps by improving code, testing, or enhancing user experience
Non-Technical Contributions
Not a developer? No problem — here are just a few ways you can help:
- Write or improve WordPress documentation
- Translate WordPress into your local language — including plugins, themes, and even subtitles for videos
- Help others in the WordPress support forums
- Create or update lesson plans and educational materials
- Promote WordPress through marketing initiatives and community outreach
- Take photos for the Openverse library or help curate them
- Organise local WordPress meetups and WordCamps
- Contribute ideas to help make WordPress more sustainable for the future
Why contribute to WordPress?
