Can you start by painting a picture of what a typical day looks like for you? What fuels your passion for the work you do, and how does it tie into your involvement with WCEU?

9 years timesheeting my time gave me great insights on how to organise my day. I start by setting down my intentions for the day and picking up the priority tasks that I have selected the previous evening. I do sessions of focused billable work in silence or with light music. Between focused work, I take a break to eat or do some non-billable work like training, networking on social media. I typically check social media and emails after at least 2 focused sessions. Delivering great work is at the top of my priorities.

SEO analysis offers insights into people’s brain: how do they organise knowledge and what do they need? I am often surprised during my researches. I enjoy that I can bridge gaps between clients and their customers. There are so many great companies and ideas out there deserving to be visible. At conferences and events, I wish to show the opportunities offered by SEO, how they go beyond creating websites for bots but caring for humans. How great teamwork between professionals creates excellent results for our clients. At WP events, participants are curious and enthusiastic, socialising  is essential to find partners and foster understanding.

What sparked your interest in becoming a speaker at WCEU? Was there a particular moment or experience that motivated you to share your insights with this community?

As an SEO consultant I work with WP websites, WP designer and tech teams. We all aim to work on efficient and user friendly websites even if each of us uses a different vocabulary to talk about key issues and tasks. You might not understand my SEO specific vocabulary and I might not understand your vocabulary. I made it my mission to foster friendly communication by sharing insights of what it’s like to work as the SEO in a team. I enjoy a WP local chapter, visited WordCamp Switzerland as a speaker twice. It is my first time at WordCamp Europe. Each event was joyful and I felt warmly welcomed, I keep coming back.

For those awaiting your talk, could you give us a preview of what we can expect to learn from your talk? Any sneak peeks?

I want the audience to understand what goes through my head as an SEO, what makes me tick 😅 go ho ho 🤯 or turn on alarm bells 😱. Based on a B2B ecommerce use case, I share the story of a project’s ups and downs, which decisions I took and why. Hopefully at the end of the talk, you will know some risks and opportunities of WooCommerce and migration. I expect you will be able to manage your client’s expectations in terms of search, define the scope of what you can deliver and when you need support from an SEO specialist.

Looking beyond the scheduled sessions, what do you hope attendees will take away from their overall experience at WCEU? How can they leverage the event to enhance their professional development or personal growth?

I enjoy conferences for inspiration and friendly chats. I often meet people whom I might work with on future projects. I appreciate the opportunity to meet people in person before working together remotely. The talks spark my interest and if I particularly like one talk, I will read the slides once back home to learn everything. As an introvert I plan ahead with clear expectations and intentions so that I am relaxed on the D-Day and reach my goals. I find it helps to know where you are aiming at professionally and what opportunity events like WCEU. In other words, to leverage their professional development or personal growth, I suggest some introspections and goal setting before the event. At WordPress events, social time is made easy with food and drinks and an overall relaxed atmosphere.
