WP Café upgrades for 2023: new format, new name.
For years now, WordCamp Europe has hosted a great community-based event called WP Café. It was a space where attendees can join informal, guided conversations about specific topics, while drinking coffee, tea, or other favourite beverages together.
This year, the WordCamp Europe organisers wanted to improve the experience of WP Café for all attendees. We identified a couple pain-points that we knew we could address:
- For some cultures and languages the name “Café”, doesn’t evoke the idea of having a participatory, communal event – instead, it feels like a normal café space. We want the name to reflect the communal aspect better.
- In the past, WP Café events were divided into topics based on different levels of expertise, like “Beginner”, “Intermediate”, etc. We’d love for people of all experience levels to be able to enjoy this event together.
With that in mind, we are making the following changes:
- WP Café is being renamed to “WP Connect”
- WP Connect events will welcome everyone of all experience levels for an open discussion about topics related to the community and community members.
