Now that in-person WordCamp Europe is back, we think it’s an ideal excuse for throwing a party. OK, who really needs an excuse to have a party?!
10 years of WCEU: Yeah!!!
But anyway, we’re having one, and you’re all invited!
Traditionally the WordCamp Europe After Party has a theme, and we’ve already been receiving questions about what this year’s theme will be. It seems that some of you are super-keen to have the best outfit 🙂
As we’ve not partied together for 2 years (2 in binary digits being 10), we chose the theme of
10!
Here are some things that are related to 10 (except for Downing Street):
- We all (usually) have 10 fingers & toes
- Nursery rhymes often use 10 – such as “ten green bottles, hanging on the wall…”
- Decades, they’re always 10!
- Rocket launch countdowns
- It’s how we often score things – a mark out of 10
- Number of provinces in Canada
- The number of the French department Aube
- 10 in Roman numbering is X, whereas in Chinese it is a cross 十, and in Greek ι, the iota, equivalent of i or just I
- It is the atomic number of Neon
- 10 in octal is 8, the number of different cities/countries WCEU has been to.
- A decathlon is a combined event in athletics consisting of ten track and field events
How to celebrate this with us
Here are some ideas for you that might help you to dress up for the party:
- Still having the original T-shirts from previous WordCamps? Wear one of them!
- Dress up as a royal, and leap around the party
- Wear the Canadian or French national costume
- Wear some neon-coloured clothes
- Dress like an athlete taking part in the decathlon
- Wear 10 pairs of sunglasses, bracelets or shoes…
Maybe you want to rent something in Porto or you don’t want to risk excessive luggage, try one of these secret pearls in Porto Porto Secreto and find something that will you get that X-factor feeling.
