Core Team

What does the team do?

Core is made up people from different areas and from teams across WordPress.org. It is an exciting and dynamic place to observe or contribute. Different areas are broken down into groups so you can pick a single area to focus on or take part in a number of aspects. This year’s Core Team Reps are Francesca and JB, who are pictured below.

Get started with the communications channels

There are 5-minutes videos to help you get started with the tools of communications. The Marketing Team with other contributors has been making different versions on this in a number of languages.

Set up a WordPress.org and Slack account for the Make WordPress Channel.

If you can not find a video in your own language, you can help make one. Translation, is another way how you can contribute to WordPress and make a difference for many people.

Learn How to Contribute to Core

Setting up a local development environment for contributing to WordPress

There are many ways to contribute to the WordPress project.
Not all methods of contributing require writing (or checking) code.
You can find more on each of the ways you can help, and the teams at https://make.wordpress.org/

For those who would like to contribute by way of writing or checking code, the most popular method is by having Vagrant & VVV (Varying Vagrant Vagrants) installed on your system.

To start, have a look at the introductions section of: https://varyingvagrantvagrants.org/

Once you are ready, move on to https://varyingvagrantvagrants.org/docs/en-US/installation/ where you will find all the relevant information on how to get set-up and ready to run a local version of WordPress. Where you will be able to edit plugins, themes and core WordPress files.

Full Site Editing

The FSE Outreach Program is a WordPress community initiative built around gathering feedback for various FSE features, building excitement about what’s to come, and expanding awareness. This program aims to get feedback on everything from workflow changes (ie something that used to take three clicks now takes six) to general bug reports to “wish list” items people want to see. Anyone is welcome to join the fun!

How can you get involved?

You can join Anne McCarthy and other contributors in the FSE-outreach-experiment channel on the global WordPress.org Slack.

Join in on calls for testing and the channel!

How to test Full Site Editing in WordPress

You can give feedback by taking part in the latest call for testing, now available until 16 June 2021.
