Call for Volunteers WCEU2020

Archived: Call for Volunteers [closed]

UPDATE:

The Call for Volunteers is now closed.

We will inform everyone about accept/decline by March 31st. In case you have questions or need any assistance please contact us at volunteers@wp-europe.org

If you didn’t apply, we hope you’ll join us at WCEU 2020 as an attendee, and apply to volunteer next year!

All WordCamps need volunteers (lots of volunteers!) to run the show alongside event organisers to help make them wonderful, accessible and welcoming events.

Everything during a WordCamp – from registration to speaker support – is set up and managed by volunteers.

Why volunteer?

The quality of a WordCamp depends entirely on the people who donate their time to make it happen. Being a volunteer is more than lending a hand, it is the secret sauce that makes a wordcamp a WordCamp!

So what’s in it for you?

  • Volunteering makes you an integral part of the WordPress global project. It is the perfect opportunity to get involved with WordPress, the world’s most popular website Content Management System (CMS). WordPress also has a powerful and growing community, which is empowered, connected and inspired by WordCamps.
  • You will meet folks from all over Europe and, indeed, the world: fellow volunteers, attendees, speakers and sponsors. Not only is this a great opportunity for starting or strengthening friendships, but also for networking and developing professional relationships.
  • You will get an exclusive look behind the scenes of organising the biggest WordCamp in the world.
  • We will keep you in top condition with food and refreshments throughout the event, and you will even be able to avoid the lines at the main conference food and drink stations.

You will get a FREE ticket to WordCamp Europe 2020, which grants you access not only to the entire event, but also to the After Party and a special pre-conference Volunteers Social! Plus, you will become a member of the WCEU family.

What’s the commitment?

Volunteering is vitally important, so we do have some specific guidelines, but we also want you to have fun! Here’s what you can expect:

Time commitment

Don’t worry, you will not be scheduled to work throughout the entire Event. We ask you to commit to a maximum of two half days or one full day so that you also have time to enjoy WCEU as an attendee.

Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities vary by role, and you can indicate which roles you are most interested in on the application form. You can find more information about the various Volunteer roles here.

Regardless of your role, you will be expected to:

  • Be the friendly face of WCEU and the WordPress project, abiding by the Code of Conduct at all times and working to be as helpful as you can throughout the conference.
  • Attend a Volunteer Orientation on the afternoon of Contributor Day (4 June 2020), the day before the event begins.
  • Perform volunteer duties as assigned.

Roadmap

Be aware of the following key dates:

  • The Call for Volunteers closes on 28 February 2020.
  • You will be informed of the results by 31 March 2020.

More information can be found on our Volunteer Information Page.

Thank you for your help! We couldn’t do this without you!
