The easiest and most convenient way to get around Belgrade is using a taxi. If you’re traveling on a budget, you may consider getting a weekly BusPlus card which costs around 9 EUR and allows you to use the public bus/tram/trolleybus network.
If you want to catch a bus from Belgrade’s Nikola Tesla airport to city center you will need to buy a bus ticket as BusPlus card doesn’t cover this travel. Ticket price is 300 RSD (approximately 2,5 EUR) and can be bought in the bus (cash only, cards not accepted!). • We also have an option to order a taxi transfer from the airport – scroll down to see the details.
Belgrade isn’t a huge city and unless you are traveling from the suburbs, everything is pretty much not more than 3km away.
Public transport
If you’re looking for the best buy option to travel within Belgrade then look no further than the public transportation system. In order to use public transport (buses, trams and trolleybuses), you will need to buy the BusPlus ticket from any Kiosk and ask for the weekly ticket. It costs 1040 RSD (approximately 9 euros).
There is a bus/tram station just in front of the Sava Centar, with lines that take you directly to the city center which is only 10 minutes (3 stations) away.
To reach Sava Centar, you should use the bus line 95 or tram lines 7, 9, 11 or 13. Belexpo centar is located in the opposite direction from the city center and only 3 tram stations away.
Full map of the public transportation system can be downloaded from here.
Every time you enter a bus or a tram, you need to validate the ticket in a validator. Unlike some other cities where you need to enter the vehicle through the front door only – in Belgrade you can enter whichever door you like – a ticket validator will be there. Validators also display more information, for example, the next station (or all the stations until the end of the line) and the weather. Additional info is available upon tapping the right button next to the language button.
You can also tap the right button, next to the language button, to see the next station and all stations before the vehicle reaches the end stop. Useful if you know the name of the station where you want to get off. You will also hear the voice announcement of the current station and the name of the next one. And while it’s inactive, the validator displays the current weather details and a 2 day forecast.
Taxi
The most convenient way of getting around Belgrade is by taxi. While they are more expensive than public transport, they are faster and the prices are still lower than in other European cities. You will recognize a taxi car because of the “Taxi” sign and its license plates – they start with BG and end with TX (like in the photo below).
Be careful! As in every big city, taxis can scam you. If you feel you’ve been scammed you should always ask for a receipt, take a photo of the car, plates and call the communal police on +381 11 309 00 07 right away.

Request a taxi on arrival
We know that arriving in a city you’ve never been to before can be stressful. That’s why we asked Naxis Taxi to help us out by preparing a form that you can fill out to order a Taxi. Once you have filled out the form, a Naxis Taxi will be waiting for you when you land at Belgrade’s Nikola Tesla airport.
Please note that you should make reservation at least 3 hours before arrival so it might be the best option to make reservation on your departure location and note that WordCamp Europe is not responsible for organising transportation to/from the airport. When you submit your form there is nothing else you need to do – a taxi driver will wait for you at the airport on your arrival.
