Thanks for your great talk, the beginning was simply brilliant and demonstrated the importance of i18n perfectly!

To me, the difficult part of making a plugin or theme multi-lingual is actually finding people to help translate them.
Do you have any tips on how to find translators?

    • I do 🙂

The people who are passionate about localizing things related to WordPress are on the Polyglots channel on WordPress Slack. I’m not saying go there directly and start recruiting people, but might be useful to hand around to find out what translators get motivated by.

There are projects like Transifex and GlotPress that allow you to create a community of translators around your themes and plugins. The largest GlotPress install is actually http://translate.wordpress.org. Yoast, for example, is using GlotPress in a very similar manner gathering a community of translators around their projects.

Alternatively, WP-Translators.org is a project for both translators and developers to help each other. Check out how you can add your project to make it easier for translators to find: http://wp-translations.org/developers-wp-translations/.

      Cheers!

    Hi Yoav Farhi,

I want to congratulate you for your WordCamp Europe talk. I’ve been involved with translation and localization for a while now (I’m actually from Portugal) and some things you talked about never crossed my mind. So, it was really great to be there and get to know your approach.

    Thanks.

    Álvaro
