Matt Mullenweg<\/a> is the co-founder of the open-source publishing platform WordPress<\/a>, which powers 43% of all sites on the web. He is the founder and CEO of Automattic<\/a>, the parent company of leading web platforms such as WordPress.com<\/a>, WooCommerce<\/a>, Tumblr<\/a>, WordPress VIP<\/a>, Day One<\/a>, Beeper<\/a>, and Pocket Casts<\/a>. To pay forward the support he got as a young entrepreneur, Matt has made 100+ angel investments through Audrey Capital, including GitLab, Ring, Sonos, SpaceX, Calm, Wealthfront, AngelList, Blue Bottle Coffee, and many more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Matt currently serves on the boards of Automattic<\/a> and Field Effect<\/a>, a cybersecurity startup. He also sits on the boards of two nonprofits: EcoAmerica<\/a>, an environmental advocacy organization, and Illuminate<\/a>, the team behind the Bay Lights<\/a> public art installation. Previously, he served on the boards of GitLab<\/a>, the New Museum<\/a>, and Grist<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Combining his lifelong passion for jazz with community building, Matt is also a co-owner of Keys Jazz Bistro<\/a> in San Francisco, a premier music venue dedicated to supporting jazz artists and culture in the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Originally from Houston, Texas, Matt attended the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts and studied jazz saxophone. He is an avid photographer who has adventured on all 7 continents and spends his time between Houston, San Francisco, and Jackson Hole. He is a Henry Crown Fellow at the Aspen Institute.
