Thinking of coming to WordCamp Europe in Basel, but keeping a close eye on your budget? You’re not alone. Switzerland – land of cheese, mountains, and precision watches – has a bit of a reputation for being expensive. And yes, that reputation isn’t entirely undeserved.
But like any pricey destination, there are always options. Think of it this way: Switzerland offers both Swatch and Rolex. WordCamp is definitely more Swatch – high quality, low cost, and full of personality.
So, where does it actually get Cheap?
Accommodation, accommodation, accommodation. That’s the biggest bite out of your budget. But once that’s sorted, most other essentials are covered by the event – food, drinks, inspiration!
Bonus tip: Stay in a hotel, hostel, bed and breakfast, or apartment in Basel and you’ll receive a free “Basel Card”, giving you unlimited access to free public transport during your stay.
As for shopping, that’s up to you. Chocolate? Affordable and delicious options await at Migros or Coop. Watches? Let’s just say… maybe leave room in the budget or settle for window shopping!
