Childcare at WCEU 2025

Basel, Switzerland 5 – 7 June 2025

Junior WordCampers are also welcome!

At WordCamp Europe, we all agree on one thing: community is everything. And when we talk about community, family sits right at the heart of it. That’s why we’re proud to continue our commitment to inclusiveness by making sure even our youngest WordCampers are well looked after, so that you can make the most of your time at the conference.

We’ve got a fantastic team of dedicated childcare specialists ready to welcome and care for children between the ages of 3 and 10. Childcare services will be available from the start of Contributor Day through Day One and Two of the event, covering the full daily schedule. Please note, however, that childcare will not be provided during the After Party or before the official start times on each conference day.

To help you prepare for WordCamp Europe 2025, especially if you’re attending with little ones, we’ve put together some helpful information about the childcare services on offer. Read on to find out more—we want every member of your family to feel welcome, supported, and part of the WordCamp spirit!

  • No food will be allowed in the childcare room. Only water is permitted in the room.
  • It will be the accompanying adult’s responsibility to take charge of the child for any meals.
  • Only children from 3 to 10 years old are allowed to enter.
  • The child will be registered at the entrance on a list, with their name and the contact details of the accompanying adult. Each child will receive a wristband or a T-shirt label with the same information.
  • The collection of the child must be done by the same accompanying adult who made the entry registration, who must sign for the collection.
  • It is strictly forbidden for the accompanying adult to leave the event while the child is in the childcare room.
  • A childcare provider will accompany each child who needs to use the toilet facilities to ensure comfort and care.
  • The accompanying adult declares that the child is not suffering from infectious diseases, pediculosis, mycosis, warts, or chronic diseases, nor from allergies or illnesses that may make regular activities dangerous.
  • In case of homesickness or illness in the child, the accompanying adult will be informed immediately by text message and/or call to the mobile phone number provided at registration.
  • If an emergency occurs and an evacuation of the space is required, the childcare staff will lead the child to the outside gathering point and provide them with due attention and assistance. The accompanying adult will receive a text message or call to the number provided at registration, to notify them that the child has been moved to the outside collection point.

Separately from the Childcare services, as part of our ongoing tradition, a dedicated nursery or nursing room will be available for children who need a nap or a quiet space for breastfeeding. The venue also provides toilets with changing tables.

We look forward to meeting you and happily making sure WordCamp Europe 2025 in Basel is an experience to remember for both you and our junior WordCampers!

Psst… You don’t need to buy a conference ticket for your children unless you want them to have their own badge, lunch, and other conference goodies.
