This is it – we’re now accepting applications for the next location where we’ll be taking the WordCamp Europe stage and welcoming the largest gathering of WordPressers in the world. After a tour of many European countries, we’re now ready to start looking for the next host city.
You can make history by welcoming the event to your local city.
Collaborative organising at heart
Behind the scenes of every edition of WordCamp Europe, we have a dynamic organising team whose mission is to help plan the best possible event for our attendees. Working closely with the local team, our organising team will collaborate for around 9 months before the event to ensure everything runs smoothly.
This dynamic mix of passionate people brings together local insights and experience of years of organising expertise. This combined knowledge helps to create a seamless and enriching experience for our attendees, speakers, sponsors and volunteers.
You can make it happen in your city!
If the idea of hosting and helping to organise the largest WordPress event in the world seems a little daunting at the moment – but is something you genuinely aspire to do – please don’t hesitate to apply. You’ll be supported with a team of organisers who collaboratively work together bringing their expertise and knowledge to support you.
If your team has successfully organised one or more WordCamps in a European city, you’re eligible to apply.
How do we apply?
This form / survey has the following sections:
- Local Community: this section is designed to find out more about your local community activity and your team
- The venue: we will ask you for details about the venue, its main characteristics, and the availability for Contributor Day. Pre-booking of the venue is mandatory for the application to be sent, and a budget estimation for catering services would be appreciated
- The host city: basic questions regarding transportation, logistics and accommodation.
- Additional information and pitch: any extra detail you think is important for your application and finally, your pitch
Venue: An appropriate venue should be chosen which allows for 1,500 seats in a main auditorium style layout, with supplementary spaces for additional tracks, workshops and approximately 15 rooms for support functions.

Proposed Dates
Important: WordCamp Europe takes place in June each year, and we avoid the last weekend due to the traditional summer holiday period in European countries.
The provisional event days for 2026 to choose from are:
- 4 – 6 June
- 11 – 13 June
- 18 – 20 June
Note: We’ve used this holiday calendar to make sure that the weekends above don’t fall with any major holiday. If there is an important/major holiday that may match with any of those dates, please let us know via email at europe@wordcamp.org as soon as possible.
Timeframes
- The application process is now open until Friday 15 November 2024
- The decision on the host city for WordCamp Europe 2026 is expected to be made by Friday 29 November 2024
Transparency and clarity in the selection process
To ensure transparency, the Host City selection committee will create a level playing field by ensuring that all applicants and applications receive the same assistance and receive all the help they need.
Applications will be ranked and compared based on the survey’s answers, with rankings determining the final selection.
WCEU has been held in countries such as The Netherlands, Bulgaria, Spain, Austria, France, Serbia, Germany, Portugal, Greece, Italy and Switzerland. There are still many countries in Europe that have not yet hosted WCEU, these countries will have preference in this selection process.
If we’re chosen, what happens next?
Members of the chosen city will be invited to join the current organisation team for WordCamp Europe 2025 in Basel, gaining valuable insights into the process.
Our organising team will also help explain processes, how things work – and provide ongoing support for handover of activities for the next event.
