Tips for Arriving by Shared Transport (Bus, Train & Taxi)

When travelling to a country with a different language, pay special attention to location names and addresses.

For Torino arrival and departure, pick Vittorio Emmanuele II or Lingotto for bus and shuttle options. (Do not choose Torino Stura nor Corso Giulio Cesare because they are both far away from any of the main arrival locations.)

For other options pick Porta Nuova, Porta Susa (Corso Bolzano or Corso Inghilterra), or Lingotto when available, because they are all connected to the city center and the venue by metro, trams, and bus routes.

In you prefer to take a taxi from Torino Caselle Airport to your destination in the city, here are links to the three main taxi providers to and from the airport:

Arriving by Car

What to expect

Although travelling by shared/public transport would be recommended, easier, and more sustainable, it is not an option for everyone.

If you are planning to arrive by car, note that you need to have a valid driving license from any EU member state so you can drive in Italy without needing international driving permission. You will need to get an international driving permit if you do not already have an EU-issued driving license.

If you are coming from a nearby western or northern route, check the weather conditions for your journey before you set off, have plenty of rest when needed, stock up on essentials for the trip, and pack a first aid kit. We recommend that you make note of emergency numbers in the countries you are passing through, rotate drivers if you’re sharing the journey, and choose easy routes – those that have convenient shops and rest stops!

When Driving in Italy:

  • Keep to the right and overtake to the left.
  • Dipped headlights must be used on two-lane motorways.
  • Horn may only be used in cases of emergency.
  • Trams, public buses, and trains have the right of way.
  • Helmets are mandatory for all riders of motorcycles.
