Hello, Anastasiya! Which team are you a part of, and what is your role?
Hi! I’m in the Photography Team again this year, helping organise. My job is to find volunteer photographers, keep in touch with them, and ensure we capture everything during the event.
Where are you from / where are you based?
Originally, I’m from Ukraine. I left my country during my teenage years, and now I live in Greece, just an hour away from Athens,
When did you first get involved with the WordPress project, and have you contributed to the project previously?
I started using WordPress back in college around 2008-2009. I discovered WordPress community in 2015 when I went to WordCamp Europe in Seville. Since then, I’ve helped out with support, translations, and taking photos. I’ve also volunteered at WCEU and spoken at local WordCamps in Athens and Thessaloniki.
Is this your first time organising WordCamp Europe, or have you been an organiser/volunteer previously?
This is my second year organising WCEU. I volunteered in 2015 for the first time, and in 2023, I was part of the Photography Team organisers.
Which team are you on, and what is the team responsible for?
I’m with the Photography Team. Our job is to take pictures of everything at the event – speakers, volunteers, sponsors, attendees, food, you name it.
What are you and your team working on at the moment?
Right now, we’re looking for volunteer photographers. If you’re into photography, we’d love to have you – join us!
What are you excited about for WordCamp Europe?
I’m most excited about meeting new people from all over the world. It’s fantastic to be surrounded by folks who share the same interests.
What would you say to people thinking of applying as an organiser or volunteer for WordCamp Europe?
Just go for it! Being part of WCEU is a great experience that you won’t regret.
If you have been on the organising team for previous WCEU’s, what are one or two things you learned from the experience?
I’ve learned how important it is to be organised and manage time well. There’s a lot to do, and everything must be done on time.
