We\u2019re introducing WordPress to future generations with a brand-new session during Contributor Day at WordCamp Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the workshop, kids will have the opportunity to create their own website using WordPress. In three hours, with the help of volunteers, they\u2019ll have a chance to set up a website, choose a theme, and learn how to create different content types.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">About the workshop:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>When:<\/strong> Thursday, June 8 from 14:00 to 17:00 Contributor Day at WCEU<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Where: <\/strong>&nbsp;Megaron Athens Conference Hall &#8211; Suite II MC 3.4. Please meet at the registration desk\/main entrance at 13:30 hrs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Who can attend:<\/strong> Children between 13-16 years of age who are comfortable attending a session in English.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Language:<\/strong> English. The instructor will lead the workshop in English, we will have a volunteer speaking Greek to help them if there\u2019s something they don\u2019t understand.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Duration:<\/strong> 2 hours of working, about an hour of breaks, games, show &amp; tell<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Capacity:<\/strong> 20 kids &#8211; be sure to sign up soon before space runs out<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Equipment:<\/strong> Each kid will need to bring their own laptop. This is important as we\u2019ll not be able to provide equipment.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Laptop charger<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A pen and a notebook (something to write on)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Before the workshop:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To create a website each kid will need an email address they can access on the day. It can be their own or a parent\u2019s email address. We can create a temporary email address for those that don\u2019t have one for the duration of the workshop, but we\u2019d like to transfer it to a parent afterward. If you are a parent and don\u2019t have a place at Contributor Day but want to register your children for the workshop, that\u2019s fine. We\u2019ll be logging everyone in and out at our registration desks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How does it work?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The 3-hour workshop includes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>2 hours of working<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Time for breaks and games<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Show-and-tell session<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Snacks and refreshments<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What are the kids going to learn?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>How to set up their own WordPress website<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How to choose a design (theme) for their website<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Types of different content \u2013 text, image galleries, video<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How to add content to their website<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Students will create their first blog post.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">About the instructors:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text is-stacked-on-mobile\" style=\"grid-template-columns:21% auto\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"215\" height=\"225\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/europe.wordcamp.org\/2023\/files\/2023\/03\/Aida-and-William.jpg?resize=215%2C225&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9556 size-full\" \/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p><strong>Aida and William Jackson&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/strong><br><br>Aida and William Jackson are experienced educators that have been involved in the WordPress community as speakers, organisers and volunteers since 2018 and 2010 respectively. They have taught at KidsCamps and Youth Camps in Miami, Orlando, and Jacksonville (Florida), Calgary, Alberta Canada and San Jose, Costa Rica. They are a part of the organising team for WC Jacksonville and they lead the very first Kids Meetup as part of their local meetup group. Additionally, they partnered with their local library and local Microsoft store to provide STEAM education to students,including introduction to blogging and WordPress.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Parking<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Parking is available every day from 6 am to 2 am. The facility is fully signed for the convenience of drivers and pedestrians, and has 15 dedicated spaces for persons with special needs on each level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For holders of tickets for events at the Concert Hall, the total charge is 5 \u20ac. The maximum permitted parking time is from one hour before the event begins to one hour after it ends. It is just a short walk from the Metro station, with its entrance on Kokkali Street.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Frequently asked questions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Is there a cost to attend?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>No, the workshop is totally free but you will need to register your child.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Can parents attend the workshop?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019ll be happy to have you during the workshop if you\u2019d like to stay with your child. If you know WordPress, you can also volunteer to help out during the workshop. Let us know in the&nbsp;Workshop for Kids Registration Form. If your child has needs that we should be aware of, let us know using the registration form.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Do we need to bring a laptop?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Yes. It\u2019s important that each child has a computer to work on. We won\u2019t be able to provide computers for anyone so we\u2019re asking each parent to make sure their child has something to work on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Will food and drinks be provided?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>There will be plenty of water and snacks provided for the breaks during the workshop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">No spaces are available.
