The Call for Volunteers has now closed. Thank you to everyone who applied!
WordCamps depend on volunteers. Every year, volunteers around the world help their local WordPress communities organise conferences, and once a year, WordCamp Europe requires a large team of volunteers to help us deliver an unforgettable event.
Why do we need volunteers?
The goal of any WordCamp is to be as accessible as possible. One way that we do this is by keeping ticket prices low, which means we need some helping hands.
WordCamp Europe is organised by volunteers, and although a lot of hard work happens beforehand, we’ll need some extra help during the event.
We encourage you, as a member of our community, to contribute to WordCamp Europe as a volunteer. By dedicating a little of your time, you will help to make the event accessible for more people.
Roles and responsibilities
An event the size of WordCamp Europe requires many different tasks to keep things running smoothly.
Browse through our Volunteer roles to find out exactly what our Volunteers will be getting up to. Keep in mind that the overview of roles is not definite and might change as we get closer to the event. There is no need to decide immediately what role you would like to fill. You’ll have plenty of time to do that after your application.

The Volunteer experience
WordCamps are open to everyone. There are events and opportunities available for complete beginners and seasoned developers alike. So no need to worry about getting in over your head. The same goes for volunteering at WordCamp Euope. We have roles and tasks for both beginners and seasoned volunteers. Also, your experience with WordPress does not impact your chances of becomming a volunteer. So you can join the volunteer team regardless of your background, knowledge of WordPress or experience.
Volunteering can improve your self-esteem, self-confidence and satisfaction with life. By doing good for others and the community, you gain a natural sense of accomplishment. Your role as a volunteer can also give you a sense of pride and identity. In addition, volunteering gives you the opportunity to see and experience a different part of the world, meet new people and make friends from diverse cultures.
Volunteering will also allow you to become an integral and active member of the global WordPress family, with connections all over the world. This can help you develop leadership, communication, organisational and teamwork skills. In addition, volunteering will bring you good fortune for your selfless contribution to making a positive difference in the world.
To sum up, especially if it’s your first time, here are some benefits of volunteering at WordCamp Europe:
- Provides you with a sense of purpose
- Provides a sense of community
- Helps you meet new friends
- Increases your social skills
- Improves self-esteem
- Teaches you valuable skills
- Provides job prospects
- Brings fun into your life
What does volunteering involve?
By signing up as a volunteer, you are telling us that you are ready to commit your time at WordCamp Europe 2023 to help the Organising Team. We will rely on you to be available for your volunteer tasks during the event.

You will receive one or two collectable volunteer t-shirt(s).
We take care of your ticket, meaning you’ll receive a stunning 100% discount on the ticket price.
Not to mention an exclusive invite to the Social, in addition to free entry to the conference and After Party!
Being a friendly face
Being a Volunteer means that you will be seen as the friendly face of the event. That’s why we require you to agree to our Code of Conduct, respect the WordPress trademark and embrace the WordPress license. As a part of the team we expect you to:
