{"id":17240,"date":"2022-07-08T10:37:42","date_gmt":"2022-07-08T09:37:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/europe.wordcamp.org\/2022\/?p=17240"},"modified":"2022-07-09T18:20:06","modified_gmt":"2022-07-09T17:20:06","slug":"thanks-to-the-local-team-members","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/europe.wordcamp.org\/2022\/thanks-to-the-local-team-members\/","title":{"rendered":"Thanks to the Local Team Members"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>Local Team<\/strong> has the arduous task of organising all the logistics at the event venue, including in the city and country, looking to build a dynamic, lively and engaging WCEU to be an engine for the entire WordPress community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After Porto was chosen, in 2019, to host WordCamp Europe 2020, we were expecting a lot of work, several challenges and some obstacles. Still, we were not expecting what happened in March and April 2020. With the world in a frenzy, the one-year&#8217;s journey has turned into a three-year adventure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The goal has remained the same: to honour the WordPress community with the best possible WordCamp Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On this journey, the Local Team has dedicated the utmost effort to ensure:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Diverse, inclusive catering that would bring a bit of Portuguese flavour to the event;<\/li><li>Covid-related protective measures to ensure a safe environment;<\/li><li>Support for all the needs of the different teams and event components;<\/li><li>Community Team support on the Wellness track;<\/li><li>Childcare service with a pro team that could take good care of future WordPress users;<\/li><li>Organise and take care of merchandising items;<\/li><li>Chose and worked to have (part of the) nice swag to offer to participants;<\/li><li>Involvement of the city, for the first time, WCEU &#8216;left&#8217; the venue and was communicated in various parts of the city;<\/li><li>Informative content about the city and region to help attendees enjoy Porto;<\/li><li>Animation, including a joyful after-party;<\/li><li>Immaculate cleanliness;<\/li><li>Adequate and attentive security;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And many other little (and some big) things, details that one by one built the blocks that made WCEU 2022 a success for the WordPress community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here are the fantastic people who made all this happen:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Carlos Miguel Silva<\/strong>, <strong>Toze Vasconcelos<\/strong>, <strong>Pedro Fonseca<\/strong>, <strong>Daniela Costa<\/strong>, <strong>Jorge Costa<\/strong>, <strong>Marco Pereirinha<\/strong>, <strong>Ricardo Correia<\/strong> and <strong>Jos\u00e9 Freitas<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-content-justification-center is-layout-flex wp-container-core-buttons-is-layout-fe48e5de wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link\" href=\"https:\/\/europe.wordcamp.org\/2023\/call-for-organisers\/\">Join the 2023 Organising Team NOW!<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Local Team has the arduous task of organising all the logistics at the event venue, including in the city and country, looking to build a dynamic, lively and engaging WCEU to be an engine for the entire WordPress community.
