Book your time slot for WP Cafe at #WCEU
We’re delighted to introduce a new feature for WordCamp Europe 2019: WP Cafe!
WP Cafe is a space for our attendees to meet, connect and chat about a range of topics, and we encourage you to make it your own by booking a slot at WP Cafe with the topic you want to discuss.
What is WP Cafe?
WP Cafe is an evolution of an existing concept: Tribe Meetups, a planned yet unstructured gathering of attendees with the intention to connect and discuss a topic.
We’ve reimagined the purpose and name of Tribe Meetups for a number of reasons:
- we wanted to improve clarity
- the schedule of Tribe Meetups overlapped with workshops and talks with similar topics
- previous locations for Tribe Meetups were far away from the main conference areas and not well sign-posted.
Purpose
WP Cafe is set up to encourage relaxed chats about anything related to WordPress. To achieve this, we identified a set of criteria. To take part in WP Cafe, you should:
- choose your own time
We have provided available time slots, you can select which ones to participate in. - choose your own topic
Anything directly WordPress-related or indirectly affecting the WordPress community. - get together, chat and enjoy!
Small groups will gather in a cosy setting where people can sit and chat in a relaxed setting with a drink or snack.
Name choice
The logical name for a place where everyone can easily join a relaxed chat was WP Cafe. The setting will be just that — a cafe, and refreshments are on us.
Booking a slot
There is no deadline for booking your slot at WP Cafe, but slots reserved before 15 May 2019 will be printed in the booklet. After that date, slots will be published on the WordCamp Europe website and posted at the venue.
Each person can book one topic, and you can choose one slot per day (two in total). To book your slot, comment on this post using the following format:
Date – Time – Topic title
For example: 21 June 2019 – 16:30 – Freelancing as WordPress Developer
Slots will be booked on a first come, first served basis.
Attending WP Cafe
The purpose of booking slots for WP Cafe is to create a schedule of topics. You do not need to book to attend.
To participate, all you need to do is turn up. Anyone is welcome!
Schedule
There are a number of slots available spanning the two conference days. Once your slot has been booked, we will add it to the WP Cafe schedule.

I’m sorry, you were late for that slot. Thank you.
Hello Milena,
actually I can not properly see which slots are open. Could you suggest another one?
Hello Henrik,
I’m sorry if you faced difficulties reading our website. Unfortunately, we don’t have any open slots anymore but we are sure that there will be other attendees interested in your topic. We would like to encourage you to find them during our networking sessions. Thank you.
Sorry, I’m a bit confused. Do I need to book one of the slots listed and come along to discuss that topic, or can I propose a new topic? I’d like to attend a topic about growing a WordPress product business, as there aren’t any about that.
Booking was meant as proposing the topic for empty slots. We have all slots booked now and you are welcome to attend all the topics you like. Even though there is no Growing WordPress Product Business topic booked, I’m sure you’ll find plenty opportunities to discuss this topic with other attendees and our sponsors. Thank you.
Thanks. Do we need to book to attend the different slots?
No, you can attend any topic you like from our schedule.
We have all slots booked now. Thank you everyone for your proposals and for helping WordCamp Europe to be an amazing community event this year.
Even if your topic didn’t end up in the schedule, we are sure that there will be other attendees interested in the same topic and we would like to encourage you to try and find interlocutors for it during our networking sessions. Thank you.
Hi, do we need to book the slots that we need to attend, or do we just turn up on the day? Thanks
Just turn up for the topic you’d like to chat about. Thank you.
