Register your kids for our free workshop during Contributor Day
We’re introducing WordPress to future generations with a brand new session during Contributor Day at WordCamp Europe.
With guidance from lead instructor Petya Raykovska, and support from friendly volunteers, children will create their own websites using WordPress during a three-hour workshop.
Register your child to attend the WordPress Workshop for Kids on Thursday 20 June 2019.
What will the workshop cover?
- Setup: Creating a new WordPress website
- Design: Choosing a theme for their website
- Content: Adding text, image galleries and video to their website
- Customise: Adding visual and functional elements to their website
Who can attend?
Children between 8-14 years of age who are comfortable attending a session in English.

If you are a parent and don’t have a place at Contributor Day but want to register your children for the workshop, that’s fine. We’ll be logging everyone in and out at our registration desks.
How does it work?
The 3-hour workshop includes:
- 2 hours of working
- Time for breaks and games
- Show-and-tell session
- Snacks and refreshments
What equipment is needed?
Children must bring the following equipment to the workshop:
- Laptop
- Laptop charger
- Notepad
- Pen or pencil
Before the workshop
To create a new website, each child will need access to an email address. This can be a parent’s email address.
It is possible for us to set up a temporary email address for the workshop, but the website will then need to be transferred to a parent’s account.
About the instructor
Petya Raykovska is a Senior Project Manager at Human Made. In addition to leading the WordPress Workshop for Kids, Petya is a speaker at WordCamp Europe 2019.
With more than 10 years of experience managing and creating websites, she is highly skilled at introducing WordPress to first-time users.
Petya has been leading WordPress workshops for children and young people since 2016 in locations all over the world, including Bulgaria, Croatia, Finland, Macedonia, Serbia, Thailand, the UK and Zimbabwe.

Frequently asked questions
Is there a cost to attend?
No, the workshop is totally free but registration is required.
Can parents attend the workshop?
Parents are welcome at the workshop. Tell us if you will accompany your child using the registration form.
Do you cater for children with additional learning needs?
We will do our best to assist children of all abilities. If your child has needs that we should be aware of, let us know using the registration form.
Do we need to bring a laptop?
Yes, please provide a laptop for your child to use during the workshop. It’s a good idea to bring a charger, too.
Will food and drinks be provided?
We will provide snacks and refreshments. Tell us if your child has allergies or dietary requirements in the registration form.
No tickets are available. Can my child still attend?
Once places are filled, we cannot go over capacity. However, we encourage you to register your interest using the form. We will create a waiting list and notify you if a space later becomes available.
My child can no longer attend. What should I do?
Contact us so we can allocate the space to someone else.
Is there childcare during the rest of WordCamp Europe?
