Reconnect with yourself at #WCEU
Events can sometimes feel busy and fast-paced. With more than 3,000 people expected for WordCamp Europe 2019, we know how important it will be for attendees to have safe spaces to relax, unwind and focus on themselves.
In addition to the Quiet Room, where attendees can go to sit and rest or work in a calm and silent environment, we have introduced some additional content to our schedule: Wellness at WCEU.
Covering a series of relaxing sessions including yoga, mindfulness and meditation, Wellness at WCEU is delivered by qualified practitioners who are volunteering their time to make WCEU an even better experience for our attendees. It’s your chance to participate in some relaxing activities outside of the realm of WordPress and tech.

Sessions
An introduction to mindfulness practice with Raffaella Isidori
Friday 21 June at 11:00
Saturday 22 June at 14:00
Mindfulness is a state of being, an approach to life (and to our work, regardless of its genre) that calls for presence and awareness, care and purpose.
Living mindfully, designing mindfully, coding mindfully can be extremely rewarding, for us and for the beneficiaries of our work. Mindfulness is defined as the basic human ability to be fully present (aware of where we are and what we’re doing) and not overly reactive (or overwhelmed) by what’s going on around us.
Mindfulness practice refers to the cultivation of this basic human ability through various methods which may include, but are not limited to, colouring, movement, meditation, breathing, etc.
In the 50-minute workshop, Raffaella will illustrate the principles and the applications of Mindfulness and Mindfulness Practice and share her experience and examples of practice.
Guided meditation with Jenny Beaumont
Saturday 22 June at 12:00
Join Jenny for an inner journey that will take you to places both familiar and new!
Beginners are welcome, no prior knowledge of meditation is needed to enjoy and reap the benefits of this unique experience. Come as you are, ready to be guided through diverse landscapes that will transport you in space and time.
Please be punctual. The session starts at 12:00 and after a brief introduction, the guided meditation will begin promptly at 12:15.
If you have any questions, you can contact Jenny on the Make WordPress Slack @jennybeaumont.
Yoga with Helen Odia
Friday 21 June at 12:00
Saturday 22 June at 10:00
Set aside any doubts you might have about not being ‘flexible enough’ or ‘good enough’ for yoga and join Helen for a relaxed class between talks at WCEU.
As many of us know, spending long hours sitting in front of a screen can often lead to bad backs, uncomfortably tight hips and poor postures.
Moving in time with the breath, we will gently stretch and twist our way through a flowing sequence of common yoga poses to counteract these niggles.
Don’t be put off if you’ve never tried yoga before – everyone is welcome, regardless of experience.
Mats will be provided, so all you will need to bring is some comfy clothes. Hope to see you on the mat!
