Volunteering at WordCamp Europe 2019
WordCamps depend on volunteers. Every year, volunteers around the world help their local WordPress communities organise conferences, and once a year, WordCamp Europe requires a large team of volunteers to help us deliver an unforgettable event.
Please note: Our Call for Volunteers has now closed.
Why does WordCamp Europe need volunteers?
The goal of any WordCamp is to be as accessible as possible. One way that we do this is by keeping ticket prices low, which means we need some helping hands.
WordCamp Europe is organised by volunteers, and although a lot of hard work happens beforehand, we’ll need some extra help during the event.
We encourage you, as a member of our community, to contribute to WordCamp Europe as a volunteer. By dedicating a little of your time, you will help to make the event accessible for more people.
Roles and responsibilities
An event the size of WordCamp Europe requires many different tasks to keep things running smoothly.

The Volunteer experience
Becoming part of our team does not come without some perks!
You’ll be connecting with other volunteers as we become one big WCEU family and unite our efforts to deliver the best possible experience for attendees.
We take care of your ticket, meaning you’ll receive a stunning 100% discount on the ticket price.
Not to mention an exclusive invite to the Social, in addition to free entry to the conference and After Party!
What does volunteering involve?
By signing up as a volunteer, you are telling us that you are ready to commit your time at WordCamp Europe 2019 to helping the Organising Team. We will rely on you to be available for your volunteer duties during the event.
You won’t be scheduled to work during the entire event. Instead, you’ll be asked to volunteer for a maximum of two half days or one full day.
This means that you will still have plenty of time to enjoy the conference as an attendee. The more people who sign up to volunteer, the less time you’ll be required to work, so encourage your friends too!
Being a friendly face
Being a volunteer means that you will be seen as the friendly face of the WordPress project to a great number of people. That’s why we require you to agree to our Code of Conduct, respect the WordPress trademark and embrace the WordPress license. You’ll need to be at least 18 years of age to volunteer.
As a friendly face of the community and the WordPress project during WordCamp Europe, we will expect you to:
- Be considerate, respectful, helpful and collaborative
- Keep a positive attitude
- Review and abide by the Code of Conduct
- Wear your volunteer t-shirt when you are on shift
In the case of a Code of Conduct violation that you witness, experience or is reported to you as a volunteer, we want you to know how to deal with the situation. Please review the process on Handling a (potential) Code of Conduct breach / incident report.
The Code of Conduct helps us to provide a friendly, safe and welcoming environment, keeping our community truly open for everyone.
It would be easy for us to list thousands of reasons why volunteering is awesome, fantastic, rewarding, amazing, fulfilling and many other things…
But it would be even better for you to listen directly to past WordCamp Europe volunteers telling you how great it is instead.
