After a detailed selection process, 52 applications were successful.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">What makes a good speaker application?<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>Attention to detail. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">One of the very first things that makes an application stand out in a negative way is a lack of attention to things like spelling, capitalization, and those other small details. Make sure to <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">review it carefully<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>Share the right information. <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Give organizers a good overview of your session structure: talk about what points you plan to cover, why this content is important, how technical you expect the session to get, and what the expected audience is.<\/span><\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Structure<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. Don\u2019t over complicate the introduction. Bullet points are a great way to highlight the most important \u00a0takeaways in your presentation and use your conclusion to WOW us, and unleash all your creativity.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Make it relevant.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Avoid sales pitches.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Highlight your strengths<\/strong>. <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">What makes you the best person to give this talk?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This year, the organising team narrowed down the 374 applications to the following:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">23 x full-length talks<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">9 x lightning talks<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">8 x 3-hour workshops<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">8 x 90-minute workshops<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">3 x 60-minute workshops<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The first step was through a Blind Voting Committee, who reviewed and voted on all of the sessions in their area of expertise. They were only able to see session data, as the speaker-specific data was hidden.
