In 2017 Paris will welcome the global WordPress community for the fifth WordCamp Europe. Following the idea of the original WordCamp Europe team to introduce a new community and a new exciting location to its attendees each year, Paris will be the host of the largest WordPress event to this day after Leiden in 2013, Sofia in 2014, Seville in 2015 and Vienna in 2016. The new location is part of the magic of WordCamp Europe, it\u2019s what transforms it from a technical conference into a sometimes life altering adventure full of new friendships, opportunities and the excitement of exploring a new city with great people.<\/p>\n

Where will #WCEU go after Paris?<\/h3>\n

With 2017 on the horizon, it\u2019s time to start thinking about 2018. Organising WordCamp Europe is challenging and becomes more challenging each year as more and more people become a part of our journey. What makes it even more challenging is the fact that it\u2019s organised by volunteers. That said, the team is also growing – both in size and experience. The WordCamp Europe organising team has two essential parts. At the base is our global team, that does everything that can possibly be done remotely – communication, speakers, sponsors, design, volunteers, networking activities. And then there are our local heroes – the local team that manages everything on the ground – tasks like finding and booking the venue, local vendors, catering and local printing (to name just a few).<\/p>\n

#WCEU is looking for its local team for 2018<\/h3>\n

Are you running your local community with a group of people you like and trust? Have you organised at least one WordCamp in your city together? If both answers are yes, then let\u2019s talk. Talking doesn\u2019t mean making a decision. Talking means talking – a conversation about why you\u2019d be interested, what would be expected of you, how everything works within the team and what it takes to prepare a great application.<\/p>\n

Open hours – October 17th – November 28th<\/h3>\n

Every Monday from October 17th to November 28th there will be an experienced member of the WordCamp Europe team available to talk to you and your team.<\/p>\n

Our goal is to give you as much information as we can so you get an idea of what it takes to do the job and decide if you\u2019d like to give it a try. The application process includes doing quite a bit of research and preparing a budget for the event. Our team will be with you every step of the way and we\u2019ll help you prepare your applications. Each local team will get a mentor that will work with you, address all the questions you have and help you make the difficult decisions so you can prepare an application that will give you the best chance of winning the pitch.<\/p>\n

The call for applications opens\u00a0on December 1st and closes on January 31st. The decision will be made by the current WordCamp Europe organising team by the end of February 2017.<\/p>\n
