Boon Gorges – The Pernicious Myth of the Code Poet<\/h2>\n

Boone<\/a>\u00a0is a Core Committer for WordPress and a Lead Developer for BuddyPress who focuses on development for universities and non-profits with his consulting firm, Hard G. In “The Pernicious Myth of the Code Poet<\/a>“, Boone will argue that code is not<\/strong> poetry and that coders who considers themselves “poets” risk doing a disservice to themselves, and to the software they’re engaged in building. By breaking down the myth of the code poet, he hopes to introduce\u00a0some new metaphors that software developers can embrace.<\/p>\n

Andrea Middleton – How WordPress Communities Are Built<\/h2>\n

As a Dot Organizer at Automattic,\u00a0Andrea<\/a>\u00a0has worked with WordCamp organisers since 2011. She helps\u00a0people to plan events that inspire people to do more with WordPress, connect the WordPress community, and contribute to the WordPress project. Andrea’s\u00a0talk<\/a> will introduce you to the WordPress community\u2019s \u201csource code\u201d and provide an overview on how you can contribute to the growth of your local community \u2014 or create a community if you don\u2019t already have one.<\/p>\n

Petya Raykovska – WordPress beyond borders: Cross cultural communication and the fundamentals of caring<\/h2>\n

Petya<\/a> is a Senior Project Manager Human Made and the community lead for the WordPress Polyglots team. WordPress is available globally, in many many languages, and created globally – by people from all over the world. In theory, it has gone beyond borders. But does that mean that there are no walls? “WordPress beyond borders: Cross cultural communication and the fundamentals of caring<\/a>” will explore the answer to that question.<\/p>\n

Caspar H\u00fcbinger – Big little shame\u2014A tale of empowered user experience through localisation<\/h2>\n

Caspar<\/a>, a\u00a0support agent at WP Media and active contributor to\u00a0the WordPress community. He\u00a0will bring “Big little shame\u2014A tale of empowered user experience through localisation<\/a>” to the WordCamp Europe\u00a0stage. In the talk, Caspar will explore how the language we use can exclude people, and how translators play an important role in empowering users through localisation.<\/p>\n

Jenny Wong – We didn\u2019t care about diversity… what happened next is insane!<\/h2>\n

As a conference speaker, community conference organiser and open source evangelist, Jenny<\/a> loudly cheers people on to share knowledge and contribute back to open source projects. She’ll share what she learned when she started thinking about event organisation in a different way in her talk \u2014 “We didn\u2019t care about diversity… what happened next is insane!<\/a>”<\/p>\n

Monique Dubbelman – The Importance of Information Architecture: Organise Content to Improve User Experience<\/h2>\n

Monique<\/a> will be talking about “The Importance of Information Architecture<\/a>” at WordCamp Europe. Whether you\u2019re a blogger, designer, copywriter, marketeer or developer, understanding the importance of structure in relation to context, content and users is crucial. Monique’s talk will raise your awareness of information architecture with the hope of\u00a0influencing the way you create sites.<\/p>\n
