Most of us already knew about the past and current hosting drawbacks for the past 8+ years.. The true fix, would be to “Truely” optimize the WordPress core for speed! The technology for “Speed” has been around a long time. It has just taken many, many years for people to look outside the box..

There are are couple other managed WP hosts that deserve a mention in addition to those covered in Mark’s great talk. Flywheel in particular is doing an awesome job with the “future of WordPress hosting” today. (Nginx, PHP-FPM, Varnish)
