Three days of WordPress
That’s right, three whole days of WordPress. Two days will be presentations by curated speakers from all over the world. The third day will be a day dedicated to contributing to WordPress. Numbers for the contributing day will be limited, so if you want to come along make sure you’re prepared to write code, write docs, translate WordPress, help out with support, test, and learn more about getting involved.
Leiden?
Leiden is a picturesque town on the outskirts of Amsterdam. Only 20 minutes from Amsterdam Schiphol airport by train, we felt it to be the perfect location for the first WordCamp Europe. If you need to take a break from the WordPress chit-chat you can walk along stunning canals, visit museums to see paintings by Rembrandt and Steen, or while away a few hours in one of the town’s many bars and coffee shops.
Venue
The conference will take place in the beautiful Stadsgehoorzaal Leiden, a Neo-classical building that dates back to 1891. This stunning building shows off European architecture at its best, while being high-tech enough to provide a wi-fi connection for all attendees.
Address:
Stadsgehoorzaal Leiden
Breestraat 60
2311 CS Leiden
Phone: +31 (71) 5162400
The contributing day venue is tbc.
Getting to Leiden
Leiden is easy to get to, and small enough to walk around. It’s only 20 minutes from Amsterdam Schiphol airport by train.
By plane
Amsterdam Schiphol International Airport is one of the biggest airports in Europe, and is used as a stopping point for flights from all over the world. It is only 20 minutes by train from Leiden. It’s pretty easy to find a flight to Schiphol as it’s served by most major carriers.
When you arrive at Schiphol, head for the train station and jump on board – you’ll be in Leiden in 20 minutes!
Low-cost carriers may fly into either Rotterdam or Eindhoven airport.
By car
If you’re taking a road trip to WordCamp Europe, you can reach Leiden via the A4 (Amsterdam – The Hague) and A44 (Amsterdam Delft)
By train
Leiden is connected to other major Dutch cities by train. You can easily grab a train to Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Utrecht, and The Hague. Trains run from these major cities to Leiden at all hours of the day.
Leiden’s Railway Station connects Leiden directly with the major Dutch cities (Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Utrecht and The Hague). When arriving with an international train at one of these stations you can find trains directly to Leiden at all hours of the day. You can plan your trip online.
Organisers
WordCamp Europe is organised by these wonderful people.
My last WordCamp was 2009 in SF can’t wait until October…
when are subscription open?
Soon!
A quick question : do you recommand a specific district to rest near Stadsgehoorzaal Leiden ? We plan to rent a flat (?) or something but don’t want to use car.
We’ll have some information on the website soon about hotels. If you’re looking for a flat you could use Google Maps to check the walking distance.
Looking forward to this, will be my first Wordcamp.
